While saving money is something we all try to do in business and life, it’s important not to do it with your website! Don’t waste your money with cheap hosting – it only ends up costing you even more in the long run. Invest in quality, professional website hosting.

We’ve seen so many companies spend thousands of dollars on their online marketing – website, social media, video content, SEO, etc. – and yet they go cheap when it comes to hosting. That’s a lot of money wasted because all the marketing in the world won’t help you if your website is too slow to use.

Even if it’s only slow during peak hours, when websites like Godaddy and Wix are often bogged down, that’s still potential customers that they are losing. Think of how many different options are out there when it comes to shopping online. People will not stick around for a slow loading website. They will quickly ditch it and move onto the next one.

“You get what you pay for” was never more true than for website hosting. Why pay more when you only have to pay $5 per month for shared hosting? Glad you asked. Here’s why.

Shared hosting is slow

Shared hosting means that your website is on the same server as literally thousands of other websites. They all share the same resources. So if one of the other websites on the server gets hacked, or has a giant boost in traffic, or has a broken script that is stuck in a loop, or any other number of bad things – your website suffers.

Many times we will analyze the speed of a website on Godaddy and discover that the request to the server isn’t even being processed for 3 or 4 seconds. That’s a lot of time in internet time. Especially for people on mobile devices.

People want the information to be fast. That’s why it’s so important to have a user friendly intuitive website. But if your website is too slow that people don’t want to sit around and wait for it – then you’re really hurting yourself.

Shared hosting is not developer friendly

Let’s say you need some custom work on your website. The problem with shared hosting is that the resources are very limited. If the developer is running a script, or needs to upload a large file, or make a backup, etc, they may not be able to do that. And even though they’re an expert, they may be forced to call technical support to figure out what’s going on. Because they don’t have full access to the server, they’re very limited in what they can do.

Technical support can be a nightmare

Luckily, some companies like GoDaddy have pretty good technical support for most things. But even with GoDaddy, if you have a tougher question you’re not going to make any progress with them.

We’ve dealt with a LOT of different technical support teams with different hosting companies and what we’ve found is the reason they’re able to charge so little is because they have very poor technical support.
